Terms of use

Short, in plain words. The ten things that matter when you use the directory.

Last updated 2026-10-30

  1. What this is. SitterListed is a directory. Pet sitters, dog walkers and house sitters publish a listing; pet owners contact them. Dates, care, keys, payment and everything else are agreed between the two of you. We are not a party to that agreement, we do not employ sitters, we do not handle bookings or payments between you, and we take no commission.
  2. Accounts. One person per account, 18 or over, real name, working email. You are responsible for what is posted from your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or the law.
  3. Listings. What you write about yourself, your experience, your home and the animals you take must be true. No contact details in the body text (they go in the fields for them). No listings for anything other than pet care and house sitting, and no animals for sale.
  4. Verified badges. A badge means we looked at the document you named and it appeared genuine on the date shown. It is not a vetting, a guarantee, an insurance policy or a recommendation. Owners should still meet the sitter first, ask for references and agree the care in writing.
  5. Care, safety and insurance. Sitters are independent and responsible for the animals and homes in their care. Owners are responsible for telling the sitter about their animal's health, behaviour and needs. Neither of you is covered by any guarantee from us; check your own insurance.
  6. Messages and reviews. Be civil. No spam, no recruitment for other platforms, no harassment. Reviews only from people who actually exchanged messages with the sitter; we remove reviews that are false or abusive.
  7. Paid extras. Featured placement and the business plan are subscriptions billed by Stripe and cancellable from the billing portal, ending at the end of the paid period. We email a reminder before a yearly plan renews. Verification is a one-off fee, refundable if we cannot review the document.
  8. Our liability. We provide the directory as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the care given, for injury to or loss of an animal, for damage to a home, for a sitter's or owner's conduct, or for losses arising between users. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
  9. Your content. You keep ownership of what you post and give us a licence to show it on the site and in search results while it is listed.
  10. Ending and law. You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We can end the service with 30 days' notice. Irish law; the courts of Ireland.
